An Introduction

Every professional organisation must have formal policies and good procedures in order to function properly and well – and we at Toynton-All- Saints are no different.  We are presently in the process of updating all of our internal policies, believing that clear guidelines and understandings make for the efficient management of a safe school.

So just what is Policy, and what is Procedure?

The difference between Policy and Procedure, and quite what goes where, gets a lot of people confused! We would say that policies come first and that procedures follow on from policy – that is how we carry out our policies in the heat of a working day!

Policy documents alone can be dry and sometimes difficult to understand.  We have done our absolute best to write policies that are clear-cut and easy to understand – and most importantly are not filled with professional jargon.
